Conway Eugene Robinson, 93, of Washington DC, passed away on September 20, 2026 after a battle with cancer and heart failure.
Conway was born on January 24, 1933 to Thelma and Wallace Robinson in Washington D.C. After graduating from McKinley Tech in 1949, he went on to work in his father's barber shop on Rhode Island Ave in NE Washington D.C.
After working at his father's shop for some years, he left and worked at Frazer's Barber Shop in Spring Valley until 1971 and then moved to Spiro's Barber Shop in Little Falls, MD until 1988. His final job was a records and imaging specialist at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in Washington DC until he retired in 1999.
Conway met Martha, a native of Züllichau Germany, in the late 1950's. They wed in 1959 and had 2 children, Martin and Sigrun. They initially lived in an apartment on Colorado Ave NW Washington D.C and then moved to a larger apartment in Glover Park NW Washington D.C. In 1968 the family moved into a single family house in Rockville, MD.
Conway was a hard working man, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of Martin, Sigrun, and his wife Martha and always tried his best to support them.
Conway was also passionate about music and could often be found listening to or attending classical concerts when he wasn’t at home. During his later years, he also took up the hobby of restoring wooden furniture, some of which is still in use to this day. He also enjoyed traveling and spent many winters at his condo in Florida.
Anyone who knew Conway knew that he was a loving father and husband. Conway was predeceased by his daughter Sigrun in 2004 and his wife Martha in 2016. He is survived by his son Martin.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Philip Rinaldi funeral home. There will be a viewing at Philip Rinaldi funeral home on October 8th from 6PM-8PM and a funeral service at the Lutheran Church of the Cross at 10AM on October 9th.
