With profound love and respect, we remember the life of Hipolita Almonte de Quijada, lovingly known to many as Pola, who passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Hipolita lived a life defined by her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, her love for her family, and her spirited belief in the unity of family.
Hipolita was a resilient woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to watch Property Brothers, browse through Instagram, and listen to music. She was a dedicated member of her local church for over 25 years, living her faith not just on Sundays but every day. Her faith guided her through life's trials and tribulations, and even in her final days, her heart remained centered on God and the people she loved. "I have not been alone, because first God has been with me. And then, my family," she often said.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Hipolita also lived in the Bronx, New York, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, before settling down in Maryland. Her resilient spirit was a beacon of hope and strength for her family. She was a reliable mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love for her family was evident not just in her words but in the relationships she nurtured throughout her life. She prized unity, often urging her family to stay together and keep their eyes on God.
Hipolita leaves behind her loving children Manuel, Carlos, Belkis, Franklin, Fiordaliza, and José, along with their partners. They will remember her as a dedicated woman who recognized her family as God's blessings. Her legacy of faith, family, perseverance, gratitude, and love will be carried forward by those whose lives she touched. As it is written in the Book of Corinthians, "So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
Her family will honor her memory at a visitation to be held on October 9, 2026, at 5:00 pm EDT at the Philip D. Rinaldi Funeral Service, P.A., located at 9241 Columbia Boulevard, Silver Spring, Maryland, 20910. Following this, her body will be transported to her beloved Dominican Republic where she will be laid to rest in the Cementerio Municipal de la 30 de Marzo, in Santiago de los Caballeros, on October 17, 2026.
In the spirit of Hipolita's dedicated, resilient, and spirited life, we invite all who knew her to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. By doing so, we keep her memory alive and celebrate the life she led, the love she shared, and the faith she held dear.
