Joellyn Marie Musson Obituary (1934

Joellyn Musson (nee White) Joellyn Marie Musson of Bethesda, Maryland, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Born October 24, 1934 in Champaign, Illinois Joellyn married William Francis Miebach and gave birth to her three sons in Bakersfield, California, moving to Tustin, California in the early 1960s where she raised her family. Though she spent several years in Houston, Texas and Foster City, California with her husband Richard Musson, she returned to Tustin after Richard's death to assume her most treasured role - grandmother. During those west coast years she courageously battled and beat cancer. She moved to Washington DC area in 2001 to help care for her third grandchild. As part of the "east coast" Miebachs, her adventures included exploring her Irish roots through trips to Ireland, trips to California to visit her "west coast" family and to Tennessee to visit Jeff and his wife Cindy Brown, in addition to many summer weeks at the beach. She was never without a book in her hands or nearby and kept busy baking delicious treats for all. On the west coast she was a well-respected operations security office for government contractors; and in retirement on the east coast she maintained her strong work ethic as a hostess/gift shop manager at Tudor Place and concierge at Whitehall condominiums. Her latest joy that was sorely missed in her last months was playing mahjong with her friends. She was preceded in death by her son Jeff Miebach, her siblings, Elaine Somers and Paul White, and her husband Richard Musson. Her loving memory will continue in the hearts of her sons William Joseph Miebach and Mark Anthony Miebach (Margaret), her grandchildren William Kyle Miebach, Kristin Marie Carter (Mike), Max Hewlett Miebach and step grandchild Sarah Chatfield; and great grandchildren Wesley and Evelyn Carter; her sisters Virginia Britton of Bakersfield, CA, Carol Lewis of Peoria, AZ and Sherri (Stephen) Grigsby of Naperville, IL and their families; and many friends on both coasts and inbetween. Her grace, generosity, intelligence, and love of her family will not be forgotten. Indicative of her strength and modesty, she asked that she be remembered without a service or ceremony - a quiet remembrance, personal to each.
