It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of the beloved Luis Roberto Gonzalez on September 1, 2026. Born in Guatemala City, Luis Roberto was a beacon of love, loyalty, and reliability to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A smart man with a captivating spirit, he led an enriched life filled with memorable moments and profound accomplishments.
Luis Roberto spent his fruitful career as a Maintenance Technician with Grosvenor Park Condominiums, retiring in 2014. His tireless work ethic and dedication to his craft saw him become a class two engineer, a significant achievement he held with pride. Beyond his professional successes, Luis Roberto’s passions were as diverse as they were enriching. An avid fisherman and a loyal Redskins fan, he was also a soccer coach and a man with an exquisite taste in music. His love for 70’s records was infectious, sparking a profound love for music in his son Willie. Luis Roberto's involvement with the Tip-Nac soccer club for adults further demonstrated his passion for the beautiful game. His loyalty, however, lay with his cherished Brazilian soccer team.
A devoted Catholic, Luis Roberto regularly attended Sunday mass with his family, followed by a joyous lunch at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. He was a Godfather to many, reflecting his loving nature and the deep respect he garnered within the community. His famous departing words at any event, "Good evening and good night," encapsulate his warmth and charisma. Luis Roberto was a man who cherished his family above all else; his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were his world. He is survived by his wife Emma, son Willie, grandchildren Christian, Giovanni, and Johana Morales. He is preceded in death by his mother Matilda, sons Billy and Tito Morales.
As we mourn the loss of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, we also celebrate the incredible life that Luis Roberto lived. His spirit will forever be a beacon of love, loyalty, and reliability. As we honor his memory, we are reminded of a verse from the book of Matthew which says, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master." (Matthew 25:21)
We encourage those who knew Luis Roberto to share their memories, upload photos to the memorial page, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived. Let us remember him not with sadness but with the joy he brought into our lives.
