Ashton-Sandy Spring, Maryland
It is with profound respect and admiration that we celebrate the life of Maria Manuela Domingos, known affectionately as Vomela. Born on the 8th of July 1945, in Sao Bras de Alportel, Portugal, Maria's journey through life was an inspiring testament to her courageous, generous, loving, and compassionate spirit. She was a woman who embraced the world with open arms, living in Portugal, Argentina, and Canada before settling down in Montgomery County, Maryland, where she resided for 38 years.
Maria's life was a tapestry of hard work, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She displayed remarkable courage as she worked as a diligent seamstress in both Argentina and Canada for many years. Her generosity was evident in her 30-year service at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she retired with praise and dedication in 2010. Her love for her family shone brightly, as she devoted her time and energy to creating a loving home for her children, grandchildren and great grandson. Maria was also a woman of many passions. She found joy in cooking, knitting, sewing, traveling, and indulging in word searches. She also had a special fondness for grocery shopping and spoiling her loved ones, a testament to her loving and generous nature.
Maria's loving spirit is carried forward by her two sons, Jose (Amy) Domingos and Carlos Domingos; her grandchildren, Melanie (Eddie), Jonathan (Bree) Nicholas (Dee), and Jocelyn Domingos; her great-grandson, Mateo Gonzalez; and her sister, Maria Victoria. She now joins her parents, Luis and Maria Goncalves, in eternal rest. As we remember Maria, we recall the words from the Book of Proverbs: "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." (Proverbs 31:25)
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Maria Domingos, but it is with gratitude and love that we remember her life and legacy. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory continues to inspire us to live courageously, generously, and lovingly, just as she did. Please, join us in celebrating Maria's life by sharing your memories, stories, and photographs on her memorial page. Your contributions will help keep her spirit alive and will provide comfort and solace to those mourning her passing.
