Sharen Louise Zacharia, affectionately known as "Sherrie" by friends and family and as "Tita" by her beloved grandchildren, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, in Frederick, Maryland, at the age of 77. Born in Lakewood, Ohio, to Robert and Nancy Price, Sherrie grew up in Rocky River, Ohio, and Lake Boone, Massachusetts, before moving to Maryland in 1966, where she would make her home for nearly six decades. She resided in Ashton, Wheaton, Lisbon, and Frederick throughout her years in Maryland. Sherrie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Frederick Zacharia, and her brother Steven. She is survived by her devoted daughter Stephanie Hatmaker and son-in-law Brian Hatmaker, along with her cherished grandchildren Gabrielle and Aidan Hatmaker. She is also survived by her siblings Robert Price, Gregory Price, Sandy Johnson, Richard Price, and Susan Decker, as well as her beloved in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. A woman of many talents, Sherrie was an accomplished crafter, artist, and graphic designer. Her professional career included meaningful work as a medical scribe at Montgomery General Hospital, a graphic design specialist at Verizon on numerous government contracts, and at the Sears Roebuck Company in White Oak, Maryland, where she first met her husband Fred. She was a graduate of Nashoba Regional High School, where she excelled as a field hockey player, and earned her associate's degree from Quinsigamonda Community College. Sherrie's passion for music knew no bounds, and she especially delighted in attending her grandchildren's "live and very loud rock and roll performances." Her love for her family was evident in how enthusiastically she supported all their activities, milestones, and accomplishments. A dedicated member of Saints Peter and Paul Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Potomac, Maryland, Sherrie was deeply involved in church life, contributing her time and talents to the Church Ad Book, Women's Club, Tea Party Committee, and Middle Eastern Bazaar Committee. Over the years, she lovingly baked tens of thousands of delicious date cookies for bazaar attendees, sharing her culinary gifts with the community. Sherrie's generous spirit extended to her volunteer work with the Linganore High School Marching Band, where she spent several years working in the uniform room for varsity football games and parades. She was known for her selfless dedication to many worthy charities and events, particularly those associated with her grandchildren's musical pursuits. In her final two years, Sherrie became a beloved ambassador for her community at Sunrise Assisted Living in Frederick, where she continued to bring joy to others and participate in every activity she could. Despite facing a long and painful battle in her final years, she never lost her love for life or her desire to help others feel welcome and celebrated. Sherrie's legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering support, sacrifice for others and boundless generosity. She made everyone feel welcome and took great joy in celebrating others. The outpouring of love following her passing is a testament to the countless lives she touched and the joy she brought to so many.
