Trieu "Paul" Nguyen Obituary (1953

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Trieu "Paul" Nguyen, who left us peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 71. Paul was born on May 12, 1953, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Phat Tan Nguyen and Thiem Mai Nguyen. In 1975, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better future for his family. Shortly after arriving, he met the love of his life, Dora, and in 1984, they began their lifelong journey together, building a family and home in Maryland. Paul worked many jobs when he first came to the U.S., but found his true professional home as a Rail Mechanic for Metro, where he worked for 32 years. He formed many lasting friendships within the Metro community, earning the respect of his colleagues through his hard work, leadership, and good humor. After retirement, Paul and Dora embraced their love of travel, exploring the world together. At home, he was happiest fishing by the water, tending to his garden, and cooking meals for the people he loved. He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, warm heart, and the countless jokes that brought smiles to everyone around him. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Dora Nguyen; his children, Christopher (Brian) and Stephanie (Tyler) Canady; and his beloved grandchildren, Eli and Ethan Canady and Christopher Cable; brother of Mai-Chi Nguyen and Joseph Peter (Linda) Trien. Paul will be missed by his family and many friends. Paul's legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Flowers are appreciated, contributions should be made to the American Heart Association in his name. Visitation will be held on March 28th from 5-8pm with a Celebration of Life to take place on March 29th at 9:00 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 205 S. Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 with burial to immediately following at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
